Biography

Don Graves is a 98-year-old U.S. Marine veteran and one of the few living American heroes who participated in the historic assault on Iwo Jima during World War II. Born February 27, 1924, in Detroit, Michigan, Graves is the son of a U.S. Marine and followed in his father's footsteps by joining the Marines the day after his 17th birthday in 1942, having been previously turned down for being too young after the Pearl Harbor attack.
